The Operations Director (m/f/d) leads the end-to-end operations of our Mondi Dynäs Pulp and Paper Mill, located in Sweden in the high coast region, ensuring the safe, sustainable, and cost-effective manufacturing of high-quality sack and specialty kraft paper products. This role is accountable for plant performance across safety, quality, sustainability and profitability. The Operations Director (m/f/d) fosters a high-performance culture, and develops leadership talent to support both short- and long-term business goals. 

 

Your mission:  

  • Drive a strong safety-first culture, ensuring full compliance with health, safety, environmental, legal, and corporate requirements. 
  • Lead end-to-end plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, safety, and continuous improvement (MMS), ensuring efficient and cost-effective manufacturing of pulp and kraft paper. 
  • Set and manage performance targets for OEE, efficiency, cost, waste, delivery reliability, and customer satisfaction, ensuring operational excellence and alignment with business goals. 
  • Develop and empower department leaders, ensuring strong people development, structured training, and robust succession plans to build long-term capabilities. 
  • Champion lean manufacturing, leading waste reduction, process standardization, and continuous improvement within our TPM Framework MMS, across all functions. 
  • Manage plant budgets and capital investment projects, ensuring optimal cost structures, sustainable asset utilization, and rigorous financial discipline. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, supply chain, wood supply, product- and process development, and central teams to ensure operational alignment with customer demand and business growth strategies. 
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives, driving measurable results in productivity, quality, service levels, and operational stability. 

 

Your profile: 

  • 7+ years of leadership experience in pulp and paper production, with responsibility for full-scale production plants. 
  • Strong background in plant operations, including P&L management, budgeting, cost optimization, and driving efficiency improvements. 
  • Solid technical understanding of pulp and paper production, including process chemistry. 
  • Proven track record of improving OEE, reducing waste, and increasing labour and machine efficiency. 
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, preferable in chemical or mechanical engineering and a degree in finance or equivalent working experience in finance. 
  • Strong leadership and people skills, with the ability to inspire, coach, and hold teams accountable in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience from Swedish labor laws and dealing with a unionized workplace. 
  • Business-fluent in Swedish and English, with an ability to communicate clearly and influence effectively at all organizational levels.
