The Plant Controller (f/m/x) plays a key role in establishing and developing a professional production controlling function at our Sonneberg site following the integration of a former mid-sized manufacturing company into a large listed international group. Working closely with the Finance Director, Plant Manager, and Operations Management, the role focuses on building controlling structures, improving financial transparency, supporting operational decision-making, and driving continuous performance improvements across the plant. The position combines hands-on operational controlling with business partnering and offers the opportunity to actively shape finance processes during a period of significant organisational transformation.

 


Your mission:

  • Oversee financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, while delivering clear insights for strategic decision-making
  • Monitor and optimise costs, analysing raw material expenses, production KPIs, and operational efficiency to drive cost-saving initiatives
  • Lead ERP-related financial processes, ensuring effective system implementation, data integrity, and continuous process improvements (e.g. SAP FI/CO in the future)
  • Support the implementation of SAP FI/CO during 2027 as preparation for the planned SAP S/4HANA rollout in 2028
  • Support business transformation, managing the financial aspects of change initiatives such as process redesigns, system upgrades, and integrations
  • Ensure full financial compliance, including timely and accurate reporting under IFRS/local GAAP, managing internal controls, and leading audits
  • Evaluate capital expenditure projects by preparing business cases and financial analyses for machinery investments, capacity expansions, and operational improvement initiatives

 

 

Your profile:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Controlling, or a comparable field, ideally with a focus on manufacturing finance
  • Experience in manufacturing controlling, ideally within a production environment.
  • Fluency in German and English is essential
  • At least 5 years of experience in supporting multiple sites, especially in the manufacturing industry
  • Solid understanding of financial principles and accounting, combined with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; high IT affinity and experience with ERP systems
  • Ready to work in a transformation environment with a hands-on mindset, taking ownership to solve problems, improve data transparency, and continuously develop controlling processes
  • Strong team orientation, openness, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders in a plant environment
