Your Mission:

  • Perform specialized Roll Bay mechanical fitting duties, including strip-down, inspection, repair, alignment, assembly, and installation of rolls and components.
  • Execute mechanical diagnostic activities including testing, inspection, troubleshooting, fault finding, measuring, and recording of results to:
    • Reduce downtime
    • Minimize breakdowns
    • Improve plant and equipment availability
  • Conduct prescribed periodic inspections and audits to proactively identify risks and prevent equipment failure.
  • Execute all tasks safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and company policies.
  • Perform scheduled preventative and condition-based maintenance on Roll Bay equipment and plant.

 

Your profile:

  • 4 – 5 years post-trade experience as a qualified, trade-tested Mechanical Fitter in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Proven expertise in roll maintenance, including rolls, bearings, housings, journals, chocks, and associated rotating equipment
  • Experience within the pulp and paper manufacturing industry will be advantageous
  • N3 qualification (Grade 12 / Matric), with Mathematics and Technical subjects preferred
  • Mechanical Fitter Trade Test
  • Experience working on rotating equipment and roll maintenance practices
  • Experience in condition monitoring and preventative maintenance techniques
