Facilities Preservation Specialist

Your mission:
Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, the Preservation Specialist (FPS) is primarily responsible for overseeing the 10-year plan for facilities, ensuring the effective preservation and maintenance of our infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in the development and execution of major maintenance and capital plans, all while ensuring safety and compliance with engineering standards.
- Safety:
- Ensure that project teams and contractors adhere to safety policies, surpassing regulatory requirements
- Monitor leading indicator metrics for safety, including UKG, DATS, FLHA's, Contractor Safety Observations, and Incident Investigations
- Engineering Systems:
- Comply with project management and engineering procedures, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and codes
- Utilize key engineering systems, including familiarity with design standards, codes, and safety requirements
- Manage documentation for projects, equipment, and maintenance procedures
- Capital and Major Maintenance Project Management:
- Develop and execute projects aligned with the annual capital and major maintenance plan
- Utilize the Project Development Process, CMMS, and CCMS systems
- Estimate project costs and submit necessary documents for budget items
- Oversee project execution, commissioning, and optimization
- Mill Operation and Maintenance Support:
- Manage concrete restoration, structural steel inspections and repairs, roof repairs, paving, and underpinning plans
- Oversee Quality Management Program (QMP) and update design standards.
- Assist with trenching and excavation permits
- Provide recommendations for improving facility maintainability and reliability

- Working knowledge of OH&S safety codes
- Demonstrated excellent leadership, mentorship, and coaching potential
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Result-oriented with effective problem-solving abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and/or Solid Works
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (Maximo)
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Have the desire to learn, grow, and succeed
- A Civil Engineering Degree, or relevant Degree, with eligibility for registration as a P.Eng
- Experience in an industrial environment, preferably in a pulp mill
- Experience with small structural and lifting monorail design
