Your Mission

 

 

Company Silvicultural Policy, Procedures and Best practice:

  • Develops and updates the Silviculture Procedures and ensures implementation thereof by Foresters and Area Managers. 
  • Identifies and formulates Best Silvicultural practices for Mondi through relevant experience and current research (through various academic and research organizations) and ensures implementation of the above.
  • Draw up and implement all necessary documentation for use by Foresters in order to execute silviculture operations in terms of Mondi’s standards i.e. Silviculture dockets and implement these through informal and formal training.
  • Manages Mondi’s chemical product applications in terms of FSC and legal criteria.
  • Participates in plant protection working groups such as FABI and the TIPWG.

 

Liaison with research and other institutions

  • Liaises with Universities, research institutions and other external and internal bodies to stay abreast of latest technological developments and initiatives.
    Technology Transfer
  • Facilitates Silviculture Technology transfer to Foresters, Area Managers and other operational and technical staff through workshops, field days and symposia to enhance knowledge and implement best operating practices.

 

Audits and Assessments

  • Audits Mondi’s silvicultural operations to keep abreast of the status of silvicultural practices and to identify and address problems. 

 

Projects

  • Initiates and manage Silviculture projects within Mondi, with the intention of enhancing the way silvicultural practices are executed to commercialise the outcomes as standard Mondi operational practices.

 

Mondi Trial Database Management

  • Manages Mondi’s trial data base (Silviculture Research), to facilitate the accurate spatial recording of trials as well as providing a preventative management function w.r.t maintaining the integrity of these trials.

 

FSC Approved Chemical lists

  • Manages Mondi’s list of approved chemicals and making sure this information is disseminated and understood throughout Mondi.

 

 

Your Profile

 

 

  • BSc/ Btech Forestry or similar equivalent qualification
  • MSc/MFor or Ph.D (Silviculture related thesis) - desirable
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in an operational Silviculture and technical position.
  • Ability to share ideas and concepts in public forums such as field days and symposia
  • Effective communication & report writing skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Project management
  • Cost Management
  • Valid Driver’s License code 8
