About the Role
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for all environmental, health, and safety programs at the Clinton facility. This role ensures compliance with Mondi Group SHE standards and U.S. regulatory requirements, while fostering sustainability, and continuous improvement. SHE Manager collaborates across departments to strengthen engagement, reduce risk, and support long-term operational excellence aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems. This position has SHE responsibility for the Clinton, PA plant.
Your Mission
Leadership & Culture
- Champion Mondi’s Lead for Safety culture and core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork
- Drive employee engagement through safety observations, recognition programs, and SHE communication
- Facilitate SHE Engagement Boards and site-level initiatives promoting proactive hazard identification and learning from near misses
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state regulations, as well as Mondi Group SHE requirements
- Lead and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification processes, including internal audits and management reviews
- Manage permitting and reporting for air, water, and hazardous waste (SPCC, SARA, RCRA, CAA, NESHAP, DOT)
- Evaluate workplace hazards, perform risk assessments, and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks
Incident Prevention & Investigation
- Oversee incident investigations using root cause analysis tools (5-Why, Fishbone, Bowtie) to determine systemic causes
- Track corrective actions in ESDMS and ensure timely closure verification
- Communicate lessons learned across the Americas region to promote shared learning and prevent recurrence
Training & Engagement
- Develop and execute annual SHE training plans, ensuring compliance with Mondi standards and legal requirements
- Deliver and/or coordinate training on key risk areas: LOTO, Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Machine Guarding, and Chemical Safety
- Coach supervisors and employees to build accountability and ownership in SHE performance
Environmental Management
- Monitor and report environmental performance metrics (emissions, waste, water use, energy efficiency)
- Lead initiatives to minimize waste generation and enhance resource efficiency in line with Mondi’s sustainability commitments
- Serve as liaison with environmental agencies, local authorities, and emergency response services
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare and analyze monthly SHE reports (TRCR, LTIFR, MEWA, CC, environmental KPIs) and present trends to site leadership
- Support regional audits, risk reviews, and strategic improvement projects
- Utilize digital tools (Power BI, ESDMS, SAP) to enhance data-driven decision-making
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Advanced certifications preferred (CSP, CHMM, ISO 45001/14001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma Green Belt)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state environmental and safety regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite; familiarity with digital SHE management systems (ESDMS, Power BI, SAP)
- Financial acumen and experience in budgeting, cost control, or project justification preferred
