Purpose of the Role:

The Transport and Logistics Planner is responsible for integrating production scheduling with transport planning to ensure efficient end-to-end supply chain flow. The role ensures that manufacturing output aligns with customer demand, vehicle capacity, material availability and service level targets

 

This role involves but is not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly production plans aligned to customer demand and operational capacity.
  • Coordinate closely with Production, Warehouse and Customer Services teams to ensure achievable scheduling.
  • Monitor raw material availability including paper, top board, pallets and consumables to prevent downtime.
  • Plan and schedule internal fleet and third-party transport to meet delivery requirements.
  • Optimise vehicle routing using transport planning software and ensure compliance with driver hours legislation.
  • Brief and debrief drivers and manage route performance through telematics and KPI reporting.
  • Manage pallet accounts including CHEP and LPR transfers and ensure accurate stock control.
  • Coordinate supplier relationships including negotiation of pricing, service levels and compliance documentation.
  • Control warehouse and production consumables purchasing within agreed budgets.
  • Produce daily, weekly and monthly KPI reports covering OTIF, capacity utilisation and service levels.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities across production and logistics planning processes.
  • Ensure that all maintenance and servicing activities are appropriately planned, scheduled, and completed in line with the required due dates.
  • Maintain accurate system data including delivery points, stock levels and vehicle records.

 

 

Your Profile:

  • Proven experience in transport planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in production planning or supply chain coordination.
  • Strong understanding of transport compliance and operational KPIs.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and familiarity with planning systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills across operational and commercial teams.
  • Commercial awareness with cost-control mindset.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented.
  • Proactive and solution-focused.
